Sometimes an email drops into your inbox that makes you pull your hands back from the keyboard, and breathe. Sometimes you are reminded exactly why you do what you do, and the email we received from Lucas at Bunyan Velo did exactly those two things. As the adventure bug is biting the bicycling industry, Bunyan Velo is taking it upon themselves to help fund these expeditions with an Expedition Fund. This Expedition Fund is made up of grants and prizes to help support bicyclists that have the twinkle in their eye to find their next adventure by bike.
The 2017 Bunyan Velo Expedition Fund
The Bunyan Velo Expedition Fund was established in 2017 to encourage and support bicycle expeditions by providing grants and gear to traveling cyclists.
Prize Packages
A total of four Bunyan Velo Expedition Fund grants will be awarded this year. Each of the four individual winners will receive the following prize package:
- $250 grant to offset the cost of transportation and trip-related expenses
- Mr. Fusion seat pack from Porcelain Rocket
- Hauser 14-liter hydration backpack from Mission Workshop
- Shorts, jersey, and jacket from Search and State
- Pair of Bartender handlebar bags from Randi Jo Fabrications
- Scout Motto Tool Roll from Swift Industries
- One year membership and a set of maps from Adventure Cycling Association
Additional Prize Package for Women/Trans/Femme Riders
In addition to the cash and prizes listed above, one woman/trans/femme winner will receive:
- Bicycle frame of their choice from Advocate Cycles
- $500 Swift Industries coupon code to be applied toward the purchase of bicycle baggage
